I welcome inquiries from journalists and podcasters, as well as speaking invitations. I regret that I’m not able to respond to all emails, but I always appreciate hearing from readers and kindred spirits!
Unfortunately, I am rarely able to accommodate requests for informational interviews. We serve more than 1000 students at UCSB Environmental Studies, and they are my first priority. Thanks for your understanding!
Are you a current UCSB student or prospective graduate student or postdoc? Info for you below!
If you are a current UCSB undergraduate interested in food and agriculture, I would love to work with you in one of my classes:
ENVS 149: Food, Agriculture, and the Environment (Winter Quarter)
ENVS 150: Agroecology (Spring Quarter)
ENVS 148: Transforming Food Systems (Spring Quarter; Admission by application; 149 is prereq)
Prospective grad student? I’m sorry, but …
I have a full-time appointment in the undergraduate-serving Environmental Studies Program at UCSB, so I do not have the capacity to admit and advise graduate students.
Prospective postdoc?
I am eligible to serve as a mentor for President’s Postdoctoral Fellows, and I welcome inquiries from current or recent PhD students looking to apply for this postdoc and work on a narrative book project related to agroecology, food justice, or food sovereignty. If this is you, shoot me an email and tell me a little bit about yourself and the project you want to pursue.
